Our group has published a new paper in CrystEngComm on the synthesis of high-quality crystals of RhSeCl, a rare intrinsic Janus material with prospects for spintronics and optoelectronics. Janus materials feature two chemically distinct surfaces and an inherent out-of-plane polarity, but growing large, phase-pure crystals has been a persistent challenge. We report a two-step self-selecting vapour growth approach yielding crystals up to 6 mm in lateral size, and identify a previously unknown impurity phase and how to avoid it to obtain phase-pure flakes.
