New Paper on CrTe2

Published on December 10, 2024

We are thrilled to share that Kai’s first paper from his PhD journey has been published in the Journal of Materials Chemistry A!

The paper, titled “Efficient Soft-Chemical Synthesis of Large Van-der-Waals Crystals of the Room-Temperature Ferromagnet 1T-CrTe₂”, introduces an innovative synthesis method for producing high-quality 1T-CrTe₂ crystals, a promising material for room-temperature spintronics applications.

Kai’s work showcases a rapid, efficient soft-chemical deintercalation process, achieving complete conversion of LiCrTe₂ to pure 1T-CrTe₂ in just over two hours. Notable highlights include:

  • Efficient synthesis pathway for CrTe2
  • Confirmation of the crystal structure via single-crystal X-ray diffraction
  • Direct evidence for the long-range ferromagnetic order, with a Curie temperature of 318 K
