We are thrilled to share that Kai’s first paper from his PhD journey has been published in the Journal of Materials Chemistry A!
The paper, titled “Efficient Soft-Chemical Synthesis of Large Van-der-Waals Crystals of the Room-Temperature Ferromagnet 1T-CrTe₂”, introduces an innovative synthesis method for producing high-quality 1T-CrTe₂ crystals, a promising material for room-temperature spintronics applications.
Kai’s work showcases a rapid, efficient soft-chemical deintercalation process, achieving complete conversion of LiCrTe₂ to pure 1T-CrTe₂ in just over two hours. Notable highlights include:
- Efficient synthesis pathway for CrTe2
- Confirmation of the crystal structure via single-crystal X-ray diffraction
- Direct evidence for the long-range ferromagnetic order, with a Curie temperature of 318 K
