Today

We were delighted to welcome Prof. Kasper Steen Pedersen from the Technical University of Denmark for a seminar today at UNIGE. Kasper is a full professor of inorganic chemistry at DTU and recipient of the Olivier Kahn International Award & Medal 2024, Kasper is one of the leading figures in the field of molecule-based materials and molecular magnetism.
His talk gave us a fascinating look into the chemistry of metal-organic frameworks and coordination compounds, with a particular focus on redox non-innocence and the design of materials with tunable electronic, optical, and magnetic properties. A highlight of his recent work is the demonstration that ligands long considered chemically innocent can become redox-active when paired with reducing metal ions.
The seminar sparked a lively discussion and opened up promising avenues for future exchange. We thank Kasper for making the trip to Geneva!
